Dr Edgar Tay graduated with Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from the National University of Singapore and was admitted as Member of the Royal College of Physicians (United Kingdom). He completed Advanced Specialist Training (Cardiology) at the National University Heart Centre Singapore (NUHCS).
Dr Tay was then awarded the prestigious 2-year Ministry of Health Scholarship to pursue further structural heart disease training: He spent 1 year at the world renowned Royal Brompton Hospital (London, UK) in adult congenital heart disease and pulmonary hypertension. Following this, he underwent further training in interventional cardiology focusing on transcatheter valve interventions (TAVI) at St Paul’s Hospital, Vancouver, Canada.
Dr Tay was formerly a Senior Consultant and the Director of the Structural Heart Disease Programme at the National University Heart Centre of Singapore. He is also an Assistant Professor at the Department of Medicine, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore. During his work in NUHCS, he started the Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI) programme, Mitraclip Mitral Valve Repair programme, Percutaneous Pulmonary Valve Implantation Programme and the Balloon Pulmonary Angioplasty programme for Chronic Thromboembolic Pulmonary hypertension. He was awarded the National Medical Excellence Team Award in 2011
He actively teaches and was the Associate Programme Director for the Cardiology Senior Residency Programme in NUHCS, as well as a Member of the Cardiology Resident Advisory Committee. He has also mentored and trained several post-doctoral students and fellows and helped proctor several overseas physicians in their transcatheter heart valve programmes. He was also invited to share cardiac treatment techniques via satellite transmission to international sites in US, Europe and Asia.
Dr Tay is also very active in research and was awarded national grants related to heart treatment innovations. In addition, Dr Tay has authored several book chapters and many peer-reviewed research articles and won the Young Investigator Award in 2015. He has been an invited faculty and scientific committee member for multiple international interventional cardiology symposia.
During his time in public service, Dr Tay was also Director of Clinical Services ( Cardiology) at the AH Campus NUHCS. He served as the Department Patient Safety Officer in NUH and pioneered several safety initiatives. He had also participated in humanitarian outreach programmes to help patients overseas with heart valve disease and was conferred the Fung Foundation Fellowship. He is also the current medical advisor to the Pulmonary Hypertension Association of Singapore. Dr Tay has also been involved in several cardiology leadership positions including being in the Executive Council of the Singapore Cardiac Society, membership in the Singapore Chapter of cardiology and is also the current Governor of the Singapore Chapter of the American College of Cardiology.

Dr Chuang Hsuan-Hung is a heart failure intensivist trained in advanced cardiovascular imaging. He specialises in heart failure and heart transplant intensive care.
Experienced in managing genetic heart disease, cardio-oncology and sports cardiology.
Dr Stanley Chia is an interventional cardiologist with a distinguished academic record.
He is skilled and experienced in managing complex cardiovascular disease and difficult coronary interventional procedures like stenting of the left main artery.
Dr Jeremy Chow is an electrophysiologist specialising in the implantation and management of electronic cardiac devices.
Experienced in arrhythmia management, stroke prevention and trained in procedures such as electrophysiology studies and ablations.
Dr Tan Chong Hiok is an interventional cardiolgist trained and specialises in stenting of the left main artery and chronic total occlusion.
He is experienced in managing complex cases in patients who have declined or are unsuitable for bypass surgery.
Dr Goh Ping Ping is an echocardiologist trained in imaging of the heart.
She is a strong advocate of preventive cardiology and awareness for women’s heart health. She manages a broad spectrum of cardiovascular disease including heart attack patients.
Dr Chan Wan Xian is a heart failure intensivist specialised in managing complex heart failure and patients with mechanical hearts.
Trained in cardiac imaging and she is experienced is treating women at risk of heart disease, especially during pregnancy.
Dr Cliff Wong is an echocardiologist trained in imaging of the heart.
He specializes in cardiac imaging (echocardiography and cardiovascular computed tomography). Experienced in managing cardiomyopathy, heart failure, valvular heart diseases and cardio-oncology.
Dr Liew Boon Wah Matthew is a cardiologist who specialises in coronary artery interventional procedures.
He is experienced in the assessment of chest pain syndromes and both diagnostic and interventional coronary artery procedures.
