Cardiologist | Cardiac Imaging Specialist (Echocardiography & Cardiovascular CT)
Dr Cliff Wong is a cardiac imaging specialist with board certification in both echocardiography and cardiovascular computed tomography (CT). He is a Fellow of the American Society of Echocardiography (FASE). His clinical areas include ischaemic heart disease, valvular heart disease, cardiomyopathy, heart failure, pericardial diseases, and cardio-oncology. He received the Teaching Excellence Award (Postgraduates) in 2022.
Dr Wong graduated from the University of Hong Kong in 2002 and attained his MRCP in 2008. He completed cardiology training at Tan Tock Seng Hospital, Singapore. In 2017, he was awarded the Ministry of Health Human Manpower Development Program (HMDP) scholarship to train as an Advanced Cardiac Imaging Fellow at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, Ohio. He is board certified in echocardiography (ASCeXAM, National Board of Echocardiography, USA) and cardiovascular CT (CBCCT, Certification Board of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography, USA). He attained the Certified Cardiac Rehabilitation Professional (CCRP) qualification from the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation in 2022. As Senior Consultant and Cardiac Rehabilitation Lead at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital (KTPH), he established a management pathway for young stroke patients using echocardiography to screen for and coordinate Patent Foramen Ovale (PFO) closure. He was Core Clinical Faculty Member for the Cardiology Senior Residency Programme in the National Healthcare Group and a member of the MOH Cardiology Resident Advisory Committee.

Dr Wong’s approach integrates multi-modality cardiac imaging with a holistic management plan covering cardiovascular risk assessment, prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation. He uses advanced imaging to guide minimally invasive structural heart interventions including TAVI, TEER, TMVR, TTVR, and ASD/PFO closure.
What does Dr Cliff Wong specialise in?
Dr Cliff Wong specialises in cardiac imaging, including echocardiography (2D, 3D, transthoracic and transoesophageal) and cardiovascular CT. He manages ischaemic heart disease, valvular disease, cardiomyopathy, heart failure, pericardial disease, and cardio-oncology, and performs cardiac rehabilitation.
What is cardio-oncology?
Cardio-oncology is a subspecialty concerned with the cardiovascular effects of cancer treatments such as chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Echocardiography is used to monitor heart function in patients undergoing cancer treatment. Dr Cliff Wong performs cardio-oncology echocardiography at AHVC.
What is cardiovascular CT?
Cardiovascular CT (computed tomography) is a non-invasive imaging technique used to assess the heart and blood vessels, including the coronary arteries. It is used in the evaluation of coronary artery disease, structural heart conditions, and in the planning of cardiac procedures.
